For over fifteen years, I have dedicated my career as a mental health provider to support those who have been carrying intense emotional distress throughout their lives for a variety of reasons. My clinical experience includes life adjustments/transitions, the development of personal identities, and the effective management of mental health conditions. My clinical approach values a mutual partnership which is uniquely defined by the therapeutic relationship and process.
Throughout my years of practice, I am reminded of the necessity for people to feel understood, validated, accepted, and safe. As a client-centered psychotherapist, I emphasize the healing ability of the individual and employ a humanistic approach. This allows clients to achieve a greater understanding of themselves and their individualized goals. As a part of the therapeutic relationship, the client’s strengths, progress and accomplishments will be encouraged and recognized.
During my professional career I have worked in multiple settings such as inpatient psychiatric units, community mental health agencies, supportive-living/housing programs, community corrections agencies, domestic violence intervention groups, and women’s shelters. I also have developed collaborative relationships with the Children’s System of Care, medical specialists, community-based hospitals and universities.
I am licensed to practice psychotherapy in the states of New Jersey and New York. I hold a board certification as a mental-health counselor and clinical supervisor. I am currently providing supervision for associate level counselors and graduate students of Montclair State University’s Clinical Mental-Health program.
